آن‌چه به‌خوبی ریشه دوانده، از باد و باران گزند نمی‌یابد؛
آن‌چه به‌نیکی در بر گرفته شود، رها نمی‌گردد؛
و آیندگان، یادِ آن را ارج می‌نهند.

چون سرشتِ راستین در جانِ آدمی نشیند؛
آدمی راه‌یاب شود؛
چون در خانه بدرخشد،
خانه بالنده و فزون شود؛
چون شهر از آن برخوردار گردد،
شهر نیکو و پایدار شود؛
چون کشور از آن بهره‌مند گردد،
کشور به‌سامان و فزون شود؛
چون جهان از آن سرشار گردد، راهِ آن فراگیر شود.

پس از خود آغاز کن و در خود نگر؛
جهان را در کشور،
کشور را در شهر،
شهر را در خانه،
و خانه را در خود پیدا کن.
و من از این‌ راه دانستم:
سرشتِ راستین، بنیادِ هستی است.

The Fifty-Fourth Notebook

What is deeply rooted
will not be harmed by wind or rain;
what is firmly embraced
will not be released;
and generations to come
will honor its memory.

When Fundamental Nature takes root in the human spirit,
one finds the Way;
when it shines within a home,
the home flourishes and grows;
when a city partakes of it,
the city becomes good and enduring;
when a nation draws upon it,
the nation becomes ordered and abundant;
and when the world is filled with it,
its Way becomes all-embracing.

So begin with yourself
and look within;
find the world within the nation,
the nation within the city,
the city within the home,
and the home within yourself.

And through this Way I came to know:
Fundamental Nature is the foundation of Being.
