*****
The Fifty-Fifth Notebook
When Fundamental Nature becomes manifest in a human being,
and the unruly self is brought under control,
one returns to the beginning, like a newborn child;
becoming non-acting, free of duality and strife,
and in harmony with the world—gentle and unharmed.
The body is soft, yet its roots are mighty;
the essence of life is at its fullest, yet it is never wasted;
it is constantly in motion, yet it does not grow weary.
To know this harmony is to know eternity;
and to understand this eternity is to arrive at illumination.
For adding through force
is to diminish the beginning;
and whatever strays from the
draws nearer to its end.
