سرشتِ بنیادین، جان‌پناهِ رازآلودِ مردمان است؛
گنجینه‌ی نیک‌اندیشان و پناهِ بدسگالان.

سخنِ نیک، در بازارِ دل‌ها بها می‌گیرد؛
و کردارِ نیک، بر آدمی می‌افزاید.
پس چگونه بدکُنش را وانهم؟

سرشتِ راستین، از هر دهشِ شاهانه برتر است؛
زیرا راه‌جویان را راه‌بَر است،
و گم‌راهان را پناهگاه؛
از این‌روست که والاترینِ جهان است.

The Sixty-Second Notebook

Fundamental Nature is the mysterious refuge of humanity;
the treasure of the benevolent, and the shelter of the ill-intentioned.

A good word is valued in the marketplace of hearts;
and good deeds add to a person.
Then how could I abandon the unruly?

Fundamental Nature is greater than any royal gift;
for it guides those who seek the Way,
and shelters those who have lost it.
That is why it is the highest treasure in the world.
