دلیرىِ بی‌پروا
مرگ مى‌آورد؛
دلیرىِ در پرهیز
زندگى.

گاه این سودمند است و گاه آن زیانبار.
آن‌چه را سرشتِ راستین ناخوش داند
رازِ آن را که داند؟
ازاین‌رو فرزانه
در آن درنگ می‌نماید.

هم‌سو با سرشتِ بنیادین:
بی‌ستیز، پیروز شود؛
بی‌گفتار، پاسخ گیرد؛
بی‌فراخوان، خود آید.

مردمان رازِ آن ندانند
و فرزانه در آن درنگ می‌نماید.

تورِ سرشتِ بنیادین فراخ است،
روزنه‌ها گشوده دارد،
اما از آن گریزی نیست.

Reckless daring
brings death;
daring in restraint
brings life.

At times this is beneficial,
and at times that is harmful.

What the Righteous Nature finds displeasing—
who can know its secret?

Thus the sage
lingers in hesitation.

In accord with the Fundamental Nature:
without contention, prevails;
without speaking, is answered;
without summoning, it arrives of itself.

The people do not know its mystery,
and the sage lingers in it.

The net of the Fundamental Nature is vast;
its meshes are wide,
yet nothing escapes it.
