پس، بیم‌ناک است.
تهیدستی و خواری، ننگ است؛

they unsettle the senses;

are agitating—
they disturb the senses;
thus they are fearful.
Thus favor and disgrace alike
are fearful; both render the human afflicted.
Therefore the sage
keeps the senses for the well-being of the body,
and the body for the sake of the true nature.
Favor and disgrace
do not provoke the sage;
thus the sage
does not suffer.
Being abides in the sage;
he is kind
to himself
and to existence.
Thus the sage
is the true ruler.
