از دیرباز انسانِ کامل، اسرارآمیز و مینوی جلوه می‌نمود؛
کسی به ژرفایِ وجودش راه نداشت.
شاید انسانِ فرهیخته این‌گونه باشد:
دوراندیش و آگاه، هوشیار و گوش‌به‌زنگ، وزین و فروتن، نرم‌خو و سازگار، پیچیده و رازآلود؛
خویشتندار و شکیبا، مهربان و باگذشت، گشاده و بسنده، گُنجا و توانگر؛
ژرف و دشوار فهم، به کُنده‌ی ناتراشیده می‌ماند.
گویا انسانِ کامل، هم‌راهِ دائو است؛
در بودن و نبودن روان، بی‌کُنش؛
سرشتِ راستینِ او پدیدار، بی‌کران، ریشه‌مند و بی‌مرگ.

Notebook Fifteenth
From ancient times, the perfect human has appeared mysterious and ethereal, and no one
could reach the depths of their being. Perhaps the enlightened human is such:
Far-sighted and aware, vigilant and attentive, dignified and humble, gentle and harmonious, intricate and enigmatic;
Self-restrained and patient, compassionate and forgiving, sufficient and content, ample and capable;
Profound and hard to comprehend, remaining with the uncarved block.
It seems the perfect human moves in harmony with the Tao;
Flowing between being and non-being, effortless;
Their True Nature is revealed—boundless, rooted, and imperishable
