بزرگترین یافتِ سرشتِ بنیادین؛
پژواکِ ریشه و دائو است.

پژواکِ دائو ژرف و پوشیده است؛
ابهام‌آمیز و ناگفتنی است.

آفریدگان از آنجا می‌آیند؛
و صورت‌ها آنجاست،
سرشت و نهادِ چیزهاست.

حقیقت است؛
جوهرش راستین است،
هرگز از هستی بازنمانده،
و آغازِ آفریدگان است.

بی‌آغاز و بی‌پایان است.

Notebook Twenty-One
The highest realization of the fundamental nature
is the echo of the Root and the Dao.

The echo of the Dao is deep and concealed;
obscure and beyond all telling.

From there, all beings arise;
there abide the forms of things,
the essence and inward nature of all that is.

It is truth;
its essence is utterly real.
It has never ceased from existence,
and is the beginning of all created beings.

It is without beginning and without end.
