چستی و چالاکی،
ریشه در نیرومندی دارد؛
و جنبش و کوشش،
از آرامش و سکون می‌آید.

از این‌رو انسانِ کامل،
حواس خویش را از ریشه و اصل دور نمی‌کند.

چشم‌اندازها هرچند دل‌فریب‌اند،
اما دلِ او در سرشتِ بنیادین آرام می‌ماند.

راهبریِ مردمان،
با نفسِ بدکنش و شتاب‌زدگی،
پایدار نمی‌ماند.

اگر راهبر سبک‌سر باشد،
ریشه را از دست می‌دهد؛
و اگر بی‌شکیب باشد،
فرمانروایی را.

Notebook Twenty-Six

Agility and swiftness
are rooted in strength;
and movement and striving
arise from stillness and repose.

Therefore, the fulfilled human being
does not allow the senses
to stray from the Root and the Origin.

Though the sights before him may be alluring,
his heart remains at peace
within the Fundamental Nature.

The guidance of the people,
when governed by the corruptive self
and by haste,
cannot endure.

If a leader is light-minded,
he loses the Root;

and if he is impatient,
his stewardship
