رفتارِ خردمند از اصل و ریشه برمیخیزد؛
پس از خود تهی است.
و گفتار فرهیخته از سرشتِ بنیادین برمیخیزد؛
پس از لغزش تهی است.
حسابگرِ کارآزموده بینیاز از چوبخط است.
نگهبانِ کاردان بینیاز از قفل و بند است.
گرهزنِ چیرهدست بینیاز از ریسمان است.
فرزانه همگان را پناه است؛
هستی را یک میبیند،
و هیچ چیز را نیز بیارزش نمیشمارد.
نیکان، آموزگارِ نانیکاناند،
و نانیکان، مایهٔ شناختِ نیکان.
ناچیز دیدنِ این راز، گمراهی است؛
و این، حقیقتی ژرف و شگفت است.

Notebook Twenty-Seven
The actions of the wise
arise from the Root and the Origin;
they are empty of self.
The words of the enlightened
arise from the Fundamental Nature;
they are free from error.
The skilled reckoner
has no need of counting.
The capable guardian
has no need of locks and bars.
The master knot-tier
has no need of rope.
The sage abandons no human being.
He sees everyone
and everything
as One;
within what is bad,
he seeks the good,
and regards nothing
as without worth.
The good
are the teachers of those who are not yet good.
And those who are not yet good
are the means by which
the good are known.
This is a truth
both profound and wondrous.
