*****
The Thirty-Second Notebook
Nameless, unmatched, unseen;
eternal, supreme in power, and without expectation.
I call it the Way;
I call it the Root;
I call it Fundamental Nature and the Dao.
It is an uncarved block,
harbouring countless faces within itself;
and whoever walks the Way and understands these things
has himself become a guide.
When a human being reaches fulfilment,
he becomes attuned to existence;
things fall into order without command;
kindness is cultivated, oppression disperses,
and joy spreads.
Fundamental Nature is nameless and without order;
it is One.
People have names and systems,
yet they are scattered.
Therefore, the wise seek the scattered within the One. Existence, like drops of rain, and like a river flowing through the depths of an empty valley, hastens toward the sea.
