مردمان را شناختن، دانایی است؛
خویشتن را شناختن، فرزانگی.

بر مردمان چیره شدن، زورمندی است؛
بر خویشتن چیره شدن، توانایی.

بی‌رشکی بر مردمان، توانگری است؛
پایداری در راه، اراده‌مندی.

تکیه بر سرشتِ بنیادین، دیرپایی است؛
و زیستن در دلِ مردمان ، زندگیِ جاویدان.

To know others is wisdom;
to know oneself is true discernment.

To prevail over others is strength;
to prevail over oneself is true power.

To be content without resentment toward others is abundance;
to remain steadfast upon the Way is strength of will.

To rely upon Fundamental Nature is enduring;
to live within the hearts of others is eternal life.
