راه همواره بی‌کنش است،
و کارها کرده‌ی اویند.

چون شاهان، بی‌کنش شوند،
کارِ مردمان به سامان می‌رسد؛

و چون نفسِ بدکنش سر برآورد،
سرشتِ راستین رامش می‌کند.

بی‌خواهش که شوی،
آرامش پدید می‌آید؛

و جهان به خود استوار می‌شود.

The Thirty-Seventh Notebook

The Way is ever without action,
yet all things are accomplished through it.

When kings remain without action,
the affairs of the people come into order;

and when the unruly self arises,
Fundamental Nature brings it to stillness.

When you become free of desire,
stillness arises;

and the world settles into its own order.
